Who is most worthy for the Golden Ball?

FIFA Player of the Year and the 2008 Ballon d'Or

On Dec 2nd – 2008 the winner of FIFA’s Player of the Year and 2008 Ballon d'Or will be chosen by 96 journalist from around the world for soccer’s most prestigious individual award. There has been much debate as to who this year’s award should go to – Christiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Ferdenand Torres, Stephan Gerrard, Frank Lampard or Lionel Messi? While the list is comprised of 30 of the most electrifying football players around the world I believe could quit possibly be cut down to only 5. Let’s not forget last year’s recipient – Kaka from AC Milan. We must keep in mind that all teams throughout the course of the year take part in 2 prestigious leagues in which they battle for the right to call themselves champions. All teams must compete for the right to be selected into the UEFA Champions League which is a league comprised of all teams from Europe. These teams come from Span, England, Italy and so on. These teams also play leagues within their own countries such as the English Premiership in England, Serie A in Italy, and the La Liga in Spain. In my personal opinion, it would be an absolute shame for Christiano Ronaldo to not walk away with FIFA’s Player of the Year and the 2008 Ballon d’Or. Ronaldo was the poster child player for the 2007/08 season. Not only did he score an astounding 42 goals in all competitions (English Premiership and UEFA Champions League) this year, but his club Manchester United beat out Chelsea FC in both competitions and were crowned Premier League and UEFA -European Champions all in the same year. How could the FIFA association even think not to award a person with this resume?
